At the close of this year a harbinger of the terrible Amīr Tīmūr appeared in India. Pīr Muhammad, son of Jahāngīr, the eldest son of the great conqueror, crossed the Indus and besieged Uch, which was held for Sārang Khān by ‘Alī Malik. A force was sent to the relief of Uch, but Pīr Muhammad attacked it and drove it into Multān, where Sārang Khān then was. In May, 1398, he was compelled to surrender and Pīr Muhammad occupied Multān.
