v3.c24.86

In 1489 Hasan Shāh, whose constitution had been enfeebled by debauchery, died, and the Sayyid faction raised to the throne his elder son, Muhammad, in whose name they ruled the kingdom, but their arrogance so exasperated the other nobles that they chose as their candidate for the throne Fath Khān, the son of Hasan's uncle, Ādam Khān, and succeeded, before the child Muhammad had occupied the throne for a year, in establishing Fath Shāh. Muhammad was relegated to the women's quarters in the palace, where he was well treated.
