v1.c14.13
According to the epic *Rukmini-parinaya*, the parents of Sevvappa Nayaka were the sudra Timma or Trimmapa Nayaka and Vayyamba ⁵ or Bayyambika ⁶. It seems that Sevvappa's father and grandfather and other elders of his family were generals under the kings of Vijayanagara ⁷, and that he himself had been a valiant general; for the epic *Sahithya-rathnakarakaviyam* states that he became master of Tanjore by his own prowess ⁸, *i. e.* by his prowess he won Achyuta's sister-in-law, and with her the kingdom of Tanjore as her dowry.
