This propaganda in favour of his family's rights to the imperial throne would appear to suggest that his authority was in danger; and we find indeed that a good number of his subjects did not acknowledge him in the beginning of his rule—not on account of his ancestors, who had been several times connected with the previous dynasties, but because of the murder of Sadasiva.
