“The Baptism of this fortunate teacher was the beginning of many others, that were subsequently administered to those who were coming to know the most sweet name of Jesus and his holy law. For after a while he baptised another noble youth whom he called Alexis Naique (Nayaka); and two more Badagas (Telugus), and a brother of the teacher Albert, and four or five more nobles, among them a very learned Captain. All this was done with great rejoicing; but secretly, in order that it might not reach the Naique’s (Nayak’s) ears till an occasion for the Father to pay a visit to him presented itself” 1.
