v1.c24.50

"With my approval, and with the authorization of His Grace the Archbishop of Cranganore, he presented himself to the Brahmans, protesting that he was neither a Prangui nor a Portuguese, but a Roman Rajah¹, i. e. a man of high nobility; and a sannyasi, that is, a penitent who has forsaken the world and all its enjoyments. The life to which he has bound himself by such a profession is very hard and very difficult; but there is nothing that does not become easy to a man animated with a true desire to make Jesus Christ known and to gain souls to Him.
