Although he had a son called Siddhappa Nayaka, in his old age he appointed his elder brother’s son, Venkatappa Nayaka, his successor, and nominated the latter’s younger brother, Rama Raja, Yuvaraja⁵. This fact must be placed before, or in the first half of 1592; for there is an inscription of September 30th, 1592, in which Venkatappa appears as Nayaka of Ikeri making a grant for the services of a matha 1.
