122. The Vāyu and the Brahmāṇḍa place the beginning of the Guptas after closing the Nāgas who were rulers in Bihar up to Champāvatī or Bhagalpur, but the Viṣṇu places their beginning in the period of the Nāgas whereby it implies the rise of Gupta and Ghaṭotkacha:
