² Sir John Marshall's reading ‘..raka Mahārājādhirāja’ is inaccurate with regard to the first letter, which can never be ‘ra’ in any period of Indian palæography. The vertical which he took to be a ‘ra’ turns with a loop towards the cross-bar of the next letter ‘ka’ which it almost touches [below the left end of the bar], and there is a box-head like a ‘ṭa’ attached the top of the letter.
