Schmidt's views, like those of Ferrand and others noted above, must be regarded as only provisional.² But several other scholars have supported this view on entirely different grounds. Among them may be mentioned the names of S. Lévi, J. Przyluski and J. Bloch. The relevant articles on this subject by these eminent scholars have been published together in English version by Dr. P.
