The Pārāvatas occurring in several passages of the *Ṛigveda* have been rightly taken as a people on the Yamunā on the strength of the mention of the Sarasvatī in their connection (*RV*, VI. 61. 2) as also of their location there in the *Pañchaviṁśa Brāhmaṇa*. Their location on the northern borders of Gedrosia, as proposed by Hillebrandt and Geldner, does not appear to be correct.
