Śivapura, which has been identified with Śibipura mentioned in a Shorkot inscription,²⁸ is referred to by Patañjali (IV. 2. 2) as situated in the northern country. The Śibis inhabited the Shorkot region in Jhang in the Punjab lying between the Irāvatī and the Chandrabhāgā.
