v1.c19.s3.t2.13

The name Ikshvāku occurs but once in the *Ṛigveda* (X. 60. 4) where it denotes a prince. The *Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa* knows Purukutsa as Aikshvāka (XIII. 5. 4. 5), so that some scholars take the Ikshvāku line to have originally been a line of princes of the Kurus, who were on the Sarasvatī in the Vedic period, whereas Ikshvāku is connected with Ayodhyā and the eastern peoples.
