v1.c19.s3.t2.7
We have seen that the Sṛiñjayas were closely allied with the Tṛitsus in the Rigvedic age. The *Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa* (II. 4. 4. 5) supports this view by stating that the Kurus (who were the successors of the Tṛitsus, Bharatas, and Pūrus in post-Rigvedic age) and the Sṛiñjayas had one Purohita. The *Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa* (XII. 9. 3. 1 ff.) further refers to a historical incident relating to this clan. The *Yajurveda Saṁhitās* refer to the Sṛiñjayas having suffered some serious loss due to some ritual error, though what exactly befell them is not mentioned.
