¹ The unattributed “Imitation Gupta” gold coins are usually assigned to this period (*JASB. N. S. 1925*, pp. 1-6; *supra* pp. 52-53). Dr. N. K. Bhattasali says that among the coins of this type, discovered at Sabhar (near Dacca), at least three stages in the process of debasement can be easily discerned.
