The story goes thus. Ugrāyudha, the Paurava king of Dvimiḍha’s line, killed Prṣata’s grandfather ³ (king of N. Pañcāla), and Prṣata took refuge at Kāmpilya in S. Pañcāla.⁴ Ugrāyudha then killed Brahmadatta’s great great grandson Janamejaya Durbuddhi,⁵ the last Nipa king of S. Pañcāla.⁶ He next menaced the Kaurava kingdom after Śantanu’s death, but Bhīṣma killed him and restored Prṣata to his kingdom of Ahicchatra (N. Pañcāla).
