⁵ The Vā reading brahmiṣṭhā sura-yājakāḥ is clearly wrong and should be brahmiṣṭhāsura-yājakāḥ for brahmiṣṭhāḥ asura-yājakāḥ by double sandhi as is not uncommon in the Puranas. Cf. Viṣ i, 17, 48, where Bhārgavas were purohitas to the Daitya king Hiraṇyakaśipu.
