The patronymic Vāruṇi is also applied to a Vasiṣṭha who sang the fable about king Nāhuṣa (Yayāti?) and the Sarasvatī,³ and to Āpava Vasiṣṭha (ante). A Vasiṣṭha unspecified is said to have had a father Varuṇa.⁴
