A beautiful slave girl could be purchased for one dīnār of gold which is equal to 2½ dīnārs of the west. Ibn Batūṭah purchased a maid-servant named ‘Ashurah and a companion of his purchased a young slave whose name was Lūlū for 2 dīnārs.
