v1.c21.59

¹ This and the permission to teach for money are not in accord with the usual rules of the Sūtras. The practice of Brāhmans becoming 'gentlemen farmers and sleeping partners in mercantile or banking firms managed by Vaiçyas' is not countenanced in other Sūtras (see Bühler's note to Gautama, x, 5) and probably the permission to teach for money is intended only for priests in distress.
