⁴ To the Gandaridae, says Diod. XVII, 91. The people of the Ganges region are probably meant. The statement which Strabo (xv, C. 699) gives as made by 'some people' (τινες) that the principality of this Porus was itself called Gandaris seems to rest upon a confusion.
