v1.c25.169

The plan which Alexander had formed for his return to the West involved his own marching through the sands of the Makrān, the southern border of the Empire, and the passage of the fleet along the coast from the mouth of the Indus to the Persian Gulf. The latter enterprise was to be directed by the Cretan Nearchus, who had been responsible for the navigation of the river.
