v1.c31.96
The period of V'ima Kadphises is determined by the evidence of a Kharoshṭhī inscription discovered by Sir John Marshall in the Chir Tope at Takshaçilā. The inscription is dated on the 5th day of the Indian month Āshāḍha in the year 136. If, as seems almost certain, the era is that which begins in 58 B.C., this date would be equivalent to the year 77-8 A.D., that is to say, the last year in the reign of V'ima Kadphises, according to those scholars who hold that his successor, Kanishka, began to reign in 78 A.D.
