¹ Eleazer, *Ili azzu*, king of the Λιβανωτοφόροι, 20–65 A.D. Vincent thinks that a Roman expedition from Egypt, or Annius Plocamus on his way to Ceylon in the reign of Claudius (Pliny, *N.H.* vi. 24) sacked Aden. But the *Periplus* always reads Αὐτοκράτωρ, never Καῖσαρ, for the Roman Emperor (e.g. § 23). Hence the reading must be corrupt.
