⁵ *Rāma-carita*, II, 45 and 47. The interpretation of *Bhavabhūṣaṇa santati* to whom Rāmapāla is said to have returned Utkala has given rise to difficulties. Paṇḍit H. P. Śāstrī takes it in the sense of Nāgavaṁśa (*Bhava-bhūṣaṇa* = Snake) while R. P. Chanda takes it to mean Somavaṁśa (*Bhava-bhūṣaṇa* = Moon).
