³ The inscription was noticed by Cunningham in his *ASR*, Vol. XI, p. 169; he read the date as 12. The record was then edited in *MASB*, Vol. V, No. 3, pp. 93-94. Mr. R. D. Banerji read the date as 42. It is not impossible that the *Mahāmāṇḍalika* Iśvaraghoṣa whose copper-plate has been discovered near Ramganj in the district of Dinajpur, was a vassal either of Rāmapāla or some of his immediate successors. See *IB*, pp. 149-57.
