² V. 8 refers to Ballālasena, and V. 9 refers to *Niḥśaṅka-śaṅkara*, both born of the same lady. If we did not know from the Madanapara grant of Viśvarūpasena (*JASB*, 1896, Vol. LXV, p. 7) that the latter name was the *biruda* of the former, the impression might have been produced that they were the names of two sons.
