² Edited by H. P. Śāstrī, *JBORS*, Vol. II, pp. 396-400. The editor refers the grant to 'Raṇastambha who is known to us from the grants of his son Kulastambha.' But the word *parama-nāmadheya* which separates the names Raṇastambha and Kulastambha in the Talcher grant, if properly interpreted by R. D. Banerji, shows that the former was not the father of the latter. The two names belonged to the same person.
