¹ Dr. Barnett suggests : ملھيرا - ملھي ? for مهيلراي = महीयल राय (Mahīyala Rāya). The acceptance of this suggestion would incline us to identify him with Madanacandra’s grand-father Mahīcandra, also known as Mahīyala. But the date of the latter c. 1075-80 A. D. seems too early.
