(1) Kamauli grant (i).—This was found in the village of Kamauli, near the confluence of the Barna and Ganges at Benares. It contains 28 lines, incised on one side of a single plate. The inscription begins with an invocation of Vaikuṇṭha and *Śrī*.⁵ The metrical portion traces the genealogy of the donor. It then records that *Pb.-M.-P.*-Govindacandra in (V) *Saṁvatsara* 1171 (A.D. 1114 ?), after bathing in the Ganges at Vārāṇasī, granted the village of Bṛhadvirāicamaua in the Kāṭi-*Pattalā* to the *Purohita* Jāgu Śarman.¹
