² *TA* (*Bibliotheca Indica*), Trans., p. 12. Ibn ul-Athīr gives the number of the army as 56,000 cavalry, 184,000 (?) infantry and 746 elephants; see *TKA*, p. 216. The *KZA*, (p. 76) gives the figures as 36,000 cavalry, 145,000 (40,1000,5 ?) infantry and 640 elephants. Firishta gives the number as 36,000 cavalry, 45,000 infantry, and 640 elephants; Brigg's Trans., Vol. I, p. 64. As Firishta generally closely follows Niẓām ud-Dīn, 45,000 may be a mistake for 145,000.
