The account of the various branches of the Kalacuris that ruled in Northern India during this period can be conveniently grouped under three heads, *viz.*, (1) *Kalacuris of Gorakhpur*, (2) *Kalacuris of Ḍāhala*¹ and (3) *Kalacuris of Tummāṇa*.² We shall take them one by one.
