³ See *EI*, Vol. XIX, p. 239, where Dikshit and Diskalkar contend that Vākpati must be identified with Kṛṣṇa, who is placed immediately before Vairisiṁha II with the epithet *pādānudhyāta* in the grants of Vakpāti II. The identification of this Kṛṣṇa with Upendra of the Udaipur *praśasti* and Padmagupta, accepted by Hall, Cunningham and Bühler rests mainly on the sameness of the significance of the two names. If Dikshit and Diskalkar are right in their identification, it would strengthen my contention about Vākpatirāja. For in the grants of Vākpati II, Kṛṣṇa is given the imperial titles *Pb.-M.-P.*
