v2.c31.172
The next difficulty that presents itself about this invasion is the name of the king of Anhilvada at the time of this invasion. According to Abu'l-Faḍl and 'Alī Muḥammad Khān, the contemporary ruler was Cāmuṇḍa. According to Gardīzī and Niẓām ud-Dīn it was 'Param Deo.' The published lithographed editions of *Ta'rīkh-i-Firishta* also supply the same name.¹ But in his translation of this work Briggs gives the name as 'Brahma Dew.'² Ibn Athīr however supplies the name 'Bhīm,' and there is no doubt that as usual,³ he has preserved the king's correct name. We have already seen that it was Bhīma (I) who was on the throne of Anhilvada from *c.* 1022-64 A.D.
