Durlabharāja was succeeded by his son Govindarāja, whom the *Prabandha-kośa* credits with a victory over Sulṭān Maḥmūd.⁴ If the latter is the prince of Ghazni of that name, we must suppose that the Cāhamāna king won some minor success when Maḥmūd was on his way to Somnath through Jaisalmer and Mallani. But I am disposed to doubt the reliability of this statement, as it is omitted in the much more reliable *Pṛthvīrāja-vijaya*.
