The **Āṭavika** *rājyas* undoubtedly included the realm of Ālavaka (Ghāzīpur) as well as the forest kingdoms connected with Ḍabhālā or the Jabbalpur territory.¹ The conquest of this region by Samudra Gupta is suggested also by his Eraṇ inscription.
