In 1355 Bukka-Rāya is said (Cd 2) to be ruling from Hosapaṭṭaṇa in the Hoysana country, and Hosapaṭṭaṇa is mentioned in connection with the Jains who appealed to him as above mentioned, who are said to have come from districts included within Āneyagondi, Hosapaṭṭaṇa, Penugoṇḍa, and Kallehada-paṭṭana. It may be the place called Hosaviḍu, Hosadurga, and by other names, which was a residence of the last of the Hoysala kings. I have thought it might be Hosūr in Goribidnūr tāluq, or Hosadurga in Chitaldroog District. But this is uncertain, and its identification would be of interest. It is described as having been the capital of Nijagali-Kaṭaka-Rāya, but unfortunately this does not help us. It was apparently the same place as Virūpākshapura (see vol. x. Introd. 32).
