¹ A title of all the Rājas of Mysore. It was also a title of the early Vijayanagar kings, and of various lines of chiefs in the South. It signifies lord or master (being the honorific plural of Oḍeya), and appears in Tamil as Uḍaiyār. As vaḍēr it is the term applied to Jangama or Lingāyit priests.
