The Chōlas, who had been victorious over all the east of the peninsula, taking possession of Kāñchī, the capital of the Pallavas, and reducing to submission the Eastern Chālukyas, with whom were allied the Rāshṭrakuṭas and the Gangas, now penetrated to Mysore. Ht 111 shows the Chōla king Rājarāja-Dēva ruling in the east of the State in 997. His son Rājēndra-Chōla captured Talakāḍ by 1004, and the Ganga power, which had ruled Mysore for nine centuries, was brought to an end.
