From all these observations of different eye-witnesses, we are to conclude that the people of Vijayanagara must have been thoroughly conversant with all the rules as laid down in the classical books on elephants and their training, like the Pālakāpya, Kauṭilya's Arthaśāstra, the Bṛhatsaṃhitā and the like.²
