Koṛana Haripa's son Si . . ., who is described as "the worshipper of the feet of all the Brahmans of the immemorial agrahāra Kuppaṭūr", according to an inscription dated about A. D. 1470, killed a big tiger which had come into the Kēdagi wood in front of the town "by forcing it out with a great noise", and hitting "it savagely with a big club". It may be that he lost his life in his great adventure but the record informs us that "on rejoining the thousand, they gave him the name Ripu-Māri."³
