³ In contemporary writing their names are mentioned not singly but with the honourable word "Rāje" added after them, as Maloji Raje, Kheloji Raje, Vithoji Raje, etc. But this word Raje does not necessarily signify kingship. It was a common practice with most Maratha clans to add the word Rāje after their individual names. The practice is still kept up.
