In May 1653 we find Aurangzib replying thus to some charge brought against him in one of the Emperor's letters, "What your Majesty has heard against me is false. I consider such conduct towards others as very improper."* The nature of the accusation is not known to us. Was it the affair of Zainabadi, which must have happened at this time?
