v1.c13.105
[^ *]: Adab, 59a, 61a. [^ †]: Adab, 46b, 59a. [^ ‡]: Adab, 59b, 60a, 87a. As Aurangzib wrote with unconscious cynicism to Abdullah, "I had urged you to present all your costly jewels and precious things to the Emperor in order to gain his entire favour. But you did not follow my advice. Mir Jumla, on the other hand, on reaching the Court gave him valuable gems and so carried his point. You cannot now recall the lost opportunity!" (Adab-i-Alamgiri, 61a).
