(7) At the same time the ceremony of weighing the Emperor against gold and silver on his two birthdays (according to the lunar and solar calendars) was stopped. Later in life, he allowed it in the case of his sons, on their recovery from illness, in the belief that as the money was given away in charity, the prayers of the poor would do good to the princes.*
