At the end of May, Mir Jumla made a great effort to reopen communications with the fleet. Farhad Khan, the best fighter in the Mughal army, was sent out with a picked force to destroy the enemy's trenches on the way, reinforce the *thanas* of Ramdang and Trimohani, restore that of Gajpur, and fetch supplies from Lakhau.
