Jaswant Singh and Prince Muazzam jumped at the offer and recommended Shivaji to the Emperor, who accepted the proposal. The Emperor recognized Shivaji's title of Rajah (early in 1668), but did not restore to him any of his forts, except Chakan. Thus a peace was made which lasted nearly two years.
