The recent rebellion of Shambhuji had revealed the serious danger that threatened the newly founded Maratha kingdom. The character of his eldest son filled Shivaji with the gloomiest 22 feet narrow-bore gun on the walls of Shivner killed a Rajah of his army* and caused the prompt retreat of the Marathas.
