"The Siddi's gallivats at Bombay, elated with this success, sailed over to the Kurlas, and brought away some of the principal inhabitants, who had purchased their protection by an annual tribute, equal to what they paid to the Government of Raigarh; and though several of them, as well as the Siddis, were Muhammadans, they were carried to Underi and beaten unmercifully, until they deputed one to fetch a ransom of Rs. 18,000."
