∗ The Pindharis brought away two elephants from the Afghan camp on 4th Nov. and two more soon afterwards. [Raj. i. 265. SPD. xxi. 197.] The capture of an elephant is considered by Indian soldiers as the highest glory like the capture of an enemy gun by European armies.
